March 1 to 15, 2012 Astrology Forecast

Mercury Retrograde already?

            From time to time, each of the planets appears to go in backward motion across the signs of the zodiac, depending upon the relative positions of the earth and the planet.  That apparent backward motion is called retrograde motion.

When Mercury is retrograde, it is a good time to renew, revise, refurbish, rethink, redo and get rid of anything that no longer serves you.  As a Feng Shui consultant, I am always happy when the planets are helping us get rid of clutter.    

Whenever Mercury is retrograde, communications, contracts, machines and travel plans may go awry.  For ordinary life, including communications, contracts and travel, I pay little or no attention to when Mercury is retrograde.  I do, however, pay close attention to when Mercury is retrograde for important communicating, contract signing and passport vacation traveling.   I will continue to go about my daily life and do what needs to be done, but I will not send any manuscripts to new publishers under a Mercury retrograde period.

Under Mercury Retrograde, take extra care while communicating with others.  Make sure that everyone understands what the plans and expectations are.  Signing important contracts to buy expensive items, applying for or starting a new job, or sending a manuscript to a new publisher may come to naught, have to be redone, or be short-lived.  If you travel when Mercury is retrograde, make allowances for changes in schedules and allow extra time to arrive.  Mercury also rules telephones, computers, printers, machines and cars, so do everything you can to have them in good running order before Mercury goes retrograde.

Even though Mercury is not yet retrograde, it may already be affecting us.  The effects of Mercury Retrograde are felt before and after the planet actually goes backwards through the signs of the zodiac as seen from the earth.  These times before and after Mercury Retrograde are called shadow periods.  A shadow period begins when Mercury is at the same degree of the zodiac where it will later go in forward motion again.  A later shadow period is when Mercury starts going forwards again but is not yet at the same degree of the zodiac as it was when it first started going backwards.  Astrologers differ in their beliefs about shadow periods, but I think the shadow periods are not as strong as the actual retrograde periods.  I will sign important contracts in shadow periods but not in retrograde periods.

Take advantage of out-of-the-ordinary conversations, mental pursuits and travel March 1 to March 25, 2012.

With Mercury, the planet of communication, intellectual pursuits and travel, very close in the sky to Uranus, the planet of change, unpredictability and originality, this is an interesting time for writers to write, students to study and everyone to take trips.  Be careful not to let words slip out of your mouth that are better left unsaid.  Be flexible while traveling and allow for changes in your schedule. 

Great time for enjoying life and taking up opportunities March 6 to March 23, 2012.

Venus, the Lesser Benefic, and Jupiter, the Greater Benefic, are close to each other in the sky during these days.  Since they are easily visible to the naked eye, look to see them together in the western sky in the evenings.  These planets bring opportunities for beauty, pleasure, enjoyment and entertaining.  

Inner battles, change of attitudes needed from March 6 to 17, 2012?

            Mercury is about 90 degrees from Pluto, indicating possible pressure and stress with usual ways of dealing with life.  Looking at deep rooted problems honestly can bring about a new outlook on life.  Take care with communication and travel.  Be slow to speak and allow extra time for transportation.

            The Great Benefic, Jupiter, is in a lucky trine (about 120 degrees from) Pluto, making this a great time for new projects and new beginnings.  These planets bring big money to people who have prosperity consciousness, optimism and self-confidence.  An added bonus is from March 2 to March 25, 2012 when Mars joins these planets in a Grand Trine configuration in the sky.  Each of the three planets is about 120 degrees from the other two, creating a lucky, helpful and beneficial time for us to get going to create the reality we want.

            With Venus, the planet of love and social life, opposite Saturn in the sky, some may feel that their relationships may not be meeting their needs.  Relationships are a mirror of who we are and this is a good time to reflect on how we are choosing people to be in our lives and how we are meeting their needs.  If we are not seeing eye-to-eye with someone, maybe we might try to look and see how the other is seeing us. 

Major transformations February 27, 2012 to June 13, 2015.

Uranus and Pluto are so far from the Sun that they take a long time to go around the Sun and through the signs of the zodiac.  When they form angles with other outer planets, those aspects are in effect for a long time.  Uranus and Pluto form a square aspect (are about 90 degrees from each other) for more than three years, forming an underlying background for the other planetary aspects.  We will not notice their effect every day of this period, but we will notice major changes that can be attributable to these planets.  Uranus brings the unpredictable, the unusual and the eccentric.  It is a very freedom-loving planet and it can be rebellious and strong-willed.  Pluto is explosive, powerful and eliminates what is no longer needed.   Uranus is in Aries, a strong and independent sign, and Pluto is in Capricorn, which rules structures, laws and governments.  During this three-year period, we will see upheavals, struggles, revolutions, rebellions, unusual weather patterns and abrupt earth changes—volcanoes and earthquakes.

An important astrological event happens this month.

Neptune enters its own sign, Pisces, where it travels for the next 14 years. Planets are especially powerful when they are in their own signs. Neptune and Pisces rule (are associated with) spirituality, hypnotism, psychiatry, compassion, idealism, art, music, literature, creativity, entertainment, drugs, escapism, confusion, water, oceans, oil, gas and toxic items. Because Neptune is so far from the Sun, it travels through the signs of the zodiac slowly and indicates major cultural shifts.

The last time Neptune was in the sign Pisces, from 1848 to 1862, the spiritual movement was in full steam, as was hypnotism and psychiatry. Under this Neptune transit in Pisces, I expect that many people will delve into understanding the hidden parts of their mind and will be involved in hypnotism, guided imagery, psychiatry and other forms of self- discovery.

Neptune also rules compassion and idealism and the world certainly needs more of these now. Under Neptune in Pisces, idealism may not be grounded in reality, but in wishful thinking. The American Civil War started and The Communist Manifesto was written under Neptune in Pisces. Interestingly, slavery and the proletariat are both connected to Neptune and Pisces. The Civil War and the manifesto both were born of compassion and high ideals, whether we agree with them or not. Under this transit of Neptune in Pisces, I expect that many causes will be important to people with high ideals, regardless of whether or not we think they are based in reality.

New forms of art, music and literature will become significant. New forms of entertainment will be more and more important and allow people to escape the real world. People will spend more time in virtual realities. I expect marijuana to become legal.

Neptune is hard to understand and deal with. During this transit of Neptune through Pisces, people will feel confused and won’t know which options to take. Astrologers and others will be very busy helping people sort through the Neptunian fog.

Neptune and Pisces rule water, oceans, oil, gas, chemicals and toxic items, meaning these will be even more important in the news. Gas costs will skyrocket. My son Josh says we might want to consider buying bikes.

Children born during this time may be psychic, psychologically aware, artistic, musically inclined and creative. They should be encouraged to develop these abilities.
