An important astrological event happens this month.
Neptune enters its own sign, Pisces, where it travels for the next 14 years. Planets are especially powerful when they are in their own signs. Neptune and Pisces rule (are associated with) spirituality, hypnotism, psychiatry, compassion, idealism, art, music, literature, creativity, entertainment, drugs, escapism, confusion, water, oceans, oil, gas and toxic items. Because Neptune is so far from the Sun, it travels through the signs of the zodiac slowly and indicates major cultural shifts.
The last time Neptune was in the sign Pisces, from 1848 to 1862, the spiritual movement was in full steam, as was hypnotism and psychiatry. Under this Neptune transit in Pisces, I expect that many people will delve into understanding the hidden parts of their mind and will be involved in hypnotism, guided imagery, psychiatry and other forms of self- discovery.
Neptune also rules compassion and idealism and the world certainly needs more of these now. Under Neptune in Pisces, idealism may not be grounded in reality, but in wishful thinking. The American Civil War started and The Communist Manifesto was written under Neptune in Pisces. Interestingly, slavery and the proletariat are both connected to Neptune and Pisces. The Civil War and the manifesto both were born of compassion and high ideals, whether we agree with them or not. Under this transit of Neptune in Pisces, I expect that many causes will be important to people with high ideals, regardless of whether or not we think they are based in reality.
New forms of art, music and literature will become significant. New forms of entertainment will be more and more important and allow people to escape the real world. People will spend more time in virtual realities. I expect marijuana to become legal.
Neptune is hard to understand and deal with. During this transit of Neptune through Pisces, people will feel confused and won’t know which options to take. Astrologers and others will be very busy helping people sort through the Neptunian fog.
Neptune and Pisces rule water, oceans, oil, gas, chemicals and toxic items, meaning these will be even more important in the news. Gas costs will skyrocket. My son Josh says we might want to consider buying bikes.
Children born during this time may be psychic, psychologically aware, artistic, musically inclined and creative. They should be encouraged to develop these abilities.
The last time Neptune was in Pisces, psychiatrists Sigmund Freud, Herrmann Rorschach and Karen Horney were born. Also, artists Paul Gauguin, Vincent Van Gogh, Georges Pierre Seurat and Grandma Moses. So were writers James Whitcomb Riley, Guy de Maupassant, Robert Louis Stevenson, Arthur Rimbaud, L. Frank Baum, George Bernard Shaw, Oscar Wilde, Joseph Conrad, Havelock Ellis, Arthur Conan Doyle, A. E. Houseman, Knut Hamsun, Anton Chekhov and Edith Wharton. And composers John Philip Sousa and G. Mahler, opera singer Nellie Melba and actress Lillian Russell.
Great for new beginnings and multiple streams of income February 1 to April 10, 2012.
The Great Benefic, Jupiter, is in a lucky trine (about 120 degrees from) Pluto, making this a great time for new projects and new beginnings. These planets bring big money to people who have prosperity consciousness, optimism and self-confidence.
Helpful planetary aspects for writing, studying and mental work February 10 to 16, 2012.
Mercury, the planet of writing, studying and thinking, is in a nice, helpful trine to serious, responsible Saturn, making this a great time to settle down and get to work in those areas of life.
Moderation needed in financial and love affairs February 12 to 19, 2012.
Venus is in a challenging square (about 90 degrees from) Pluto. Both of these planets correspond with finances, so take care and don’t overspend. Pluto is intense and can cause havoc with love. This can be a difficult time with relationships and a time of endings and new beginnings in personal affairs.
Tendency to be high-strung, irritable, fault-finding and quick-tempered February 20 to 25, 2012
With fiery, energetic Mars opposite (about 180 degrees from) Mercury, the planet of mental processes and communication, we all might want to work on controlling our thoughts and words. As Mercury also corresponds to travel, slow down and take care while driving and walking.
Expect the unexpected February 18 to 23, 2012
Astrologers pay attention to the aspects (angles or degrees of separation) the Sun, the Moon and planets make to each other. When a planet makes no aspects to another planet, it is unusual and the planet will express itself fully. Uranus makes no aspects during these six days. Uranus is connected to the unexpected, freedom, revolution, earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes and technology. These subjects make the news.
Good for new beginnings, physical energy and hard work February 28 to May 31, 2012
Energetic Mars trines (is about 120 degrees from) Pluto, making this a good time to aggressively start new projects, and work hard to accomplish goals. Pluto is connected to elimination—get rid of junk and clutter.
Great for artistic pursuits and listening to your intuition October 23, 2011 to April 12, 2012.
Saturn is an earthy planet, bringing stability and reliability to whatever it touches. Saturn trines (is about 120 degrees from) ethereal Neptune, which means it is a great time to work on and finish artistic projects and use your intuition to benefit your life. Listen to your hunches. This aspect is great for being able to use psychic ability.
Opposing viewpoints until February 20, 2012.
Jupiter continues its long-term opposition to (is about 180 degrees from) Saturn, showing opposition between people who feel optimistic and those who feel fearful. Oppositions often mean that people see situations in totally opposite ways and find little or nothing to compromise about. Since this is a long-term aspect, it will be interesting to watch how it plays out in politics in the United States and between countries. This aspect can bring much contention, difficulty and discord. As always, we have the choice to respectfully disagree.
Good news for the economy and for you.
Jupiter is in Taurus where it will remain until June 11, 2012. Long-lasting aspects bring slow results, but over time, hard work and patience can create good outcomes. Jupiter brings blessings, opportunities, luck and expansion, and Taurus is a financial sign. Taurus is also slow moving, conservative and patient. Jupiter enlarges what it touches, so inflation may be part of the picture. Jupiter in Taurus is a fortunate time for making money if you are prudent and don’t expect to get rich overnight. I expect that the people who already have big money will continue to make big bonuses. With Jupiter in this sign, YOU should take advantage of opportunities to enlarge your financial picture. Do you have the money you want? If not, what do you need to do to get it? Are you doing what you need to do? Do you have multiple sources of income?
